How it uses iPhone Duo

The cover becomes a watch lid, while opening reveals a dial across both halves. In laptop pose, tilting the screen winds a 5–120 minute countdown; closing starts the seal and opening early breaks it after a five-second grace period. These are in-app displays, not replacement wallpapers.

App Store descriptionWritten by the developer.

Charnière turns iPhone Duo into a pocket watch. Close your Duo and the cover becomes the watch's lid: engraved metal, lacquer or stone, cut to the cover's own shape, with your initials in a cartouche and a crystal window onto the dial. The hinge knuckles sit on the real hinge, and the camera is set like a jewel. Open it and one dial lies across both halves, hinged through 12 and 6 like the phone it is on. Fold it like a book and each half takes the light differently. The hinge is the crown. Stand the phone in laptop pose and tilt the screen to wind a seal, from 5 to 120 minutes, one detent at a time. Close the phone and the time is sealed: the lid counts it down. Open early and, after five seconds of grace, the seal breaks. Close it again to reseal. Every kept seal joins your ledger. Eight Maisons, each drawn entirely in code, with its own hands, numerals and sound: - Titane: bead-blasted titanium, like the hinge it hangs on (free) - Argent: silver, engine-turned clous de Paris and sunburst, blued Breguet hands (free) - Urushi: black lacquer and gold, with gold that pours into the crease as you fold - Grand Feu: white fired enamel in a gold case - Aventurine: midnight glass with copper inside it, and today's moon - Noyer: walnut burl and brass, for the desk - Tourbillon: an open movement whose barrel the hinge winds - Céramique: black zirconia with lume-filled numerals On the nightstand, stand the closed phone on its edge and the lid stays lit, dimming from 10 pm to 6 am. Charnière works while it is open. It does not change your wallpaper or Home Screen; iPhone Duo keeps those to itself. On other iPhones, the dial and the seal work with an on-screen crown. Titane and Argent are free. The Charnière Pass opens the other six Maisons and each new one as it is made: $1.49 a month, or $9.99 a year with a 7-day free trial. The First Series is a single $19.99 purchase of every Maison, sold until 31 March 2027. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period, and can be managed in Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions.
