How it uses iPhone Duo
According to the developer's App Store description (current as of version 1.1.2, October 21, 2026), Toastie is made for iPhone Duo: the phone becomes the toaster. Folding the device shut closes the toaster lid, and opening it lets you check how the sandwich is toasting. On other iPhones and iPad the game plays without the fold. We have not yet tested Toastie on an iPhone Duo.

About this app
Toastie is a small cooking game from independent developer Tomasz Szykulski in which the phone stands in for a sandwich toaster. Each round you assemble a grilled cheese to order: spread butter across the slice with a finger, drag cheese and fillings onto the bread, then send it to toast. You get 15 seconds to build each order before customers grow impatient. Toasting runs in real time, so the skill is in judging when to take the sandwich out: too soon and the cheese is still solid, too late and it burns. Every finished sandwich is scored on recipe, plating, toasting and prep time, and a four-star result unlocks the next recipe, with five stars turning the card gold. There are ten recipes, from a classic grilled cheese and cheese and tomato through to brie and cranberry, kimchi and a fully loaded sandwich, using three types of bread and fourteen ingredients. Progress syncs through iCloud, Game Center provides a leaderboard and achievements, and finished toasties can be shared to Instagram Stories or X. Toastie is a paid app with no ads, no tracking and no in-app purchases, and it plays on any iPhone or iPad. It suits anyone looking for a short, tactile timing game. On iPhone Duo, the developer has tied the toaster lid to the physical fold of the device.

Toastie turns your iPhone into a toaster. Make a grilled cheese sandwich from scratch: butter the bread, lay on the cheese and fillings, and put it in the toaster. Close the lid and it starts toasting in real time. Open it too early and the cheese hasn't melted; leave it too long and it burns. Take it out at the right moment and you get a perfect toastie. HOW IT WORKS • Butter the bread with your finger: cover the slice, on the right side. • Drag the cheese and fillings onto the bread and spread them out. • Hurry: customers are waiting.
