How it uses iPhone Duo
The developer describes PianoFold as built for iPhone Duo and lays it out for each pose. Folded like a laptop, the notes fall on the upright half, the pads sit on the flat half and the strike line sits on the hinge, with the upright screen showing the room through the rear camera. Opened flat, the notes and pads meet on the fold. Closed, the whole game runs on the outer display like on any iPhone. We have not yet tested it on a device.
About this app
PianoFold is a piano rhythm game from Vision First Studio that works through the classical repertoire. Tiles travel toward a row of pads, and tapping them in time plays the melody while the accompaniment fills in around you. The game has 40 levels split across eight chapters, with pieces by composers including Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart, Bach and Tchaikovsky, from Ode to Joy to Für Elise. Long tiles have to be held, combos build as you keep time, and each song can be replayed for three stars. There are no lives or timers, so a failed attempt can be retried straight away. Every unlocked song also has a practice room. You can slow the music down, play the left hand, the right hand or both, and swap the falling tiles for an on-screen keyboard. A Wait for me option pauses the music until you play the next note, which makes it useful for learners as well as for people who just want a game. You can play against a dark stage or in a Room view that uses the rear camera to show the space in front of you as the backdrop; the developer says nothing is recorded. The first two chapters are free, a daily free song opens up from chapter two, and a single Full Game purchase unlocks the rest, with no ads or subscription. It runs on iPhone and iPad as well as iPhone Duo.

MADE FOR IPHONE DUO PianoFold brings classical piano to your fingertips. Fold your iPhone Duo like a laptop: the upright screen becomes a window onto your room, while the tiles glide toward pads beneath your fingers. Your taps play the melody, with the accompaniment playing along. Play on iPhone and iPad, with a choice of the camera-powered Room view or a glowing dark stage. PLAY THE CLASSICS Discover 40 levels across eight chapters, from Ode to Joy to Für Elise, with music by Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart, Bach, Tchaikovsky and more. Tap in time, hold the long tiles and build your combo. Beat songs to open more, then return for three stars. Every chapter starts with two songs available, so there’s another to try when one gets tricky. Retry instantly, as often as you like. No lives, no waiting. MAKE THE SONG YOURS Every song you unlock has a practice room. Slow it down, play either hand or both, and switch from tiles to an onscreen piano keyboard. Turn on Wait for me and the music pauses until you play each note. Practice the level’s excerpt or explore the full arrangement, at your own pace. Practice earns no stars and opens no levels. START FREE. UNLOCK ONCE. The first two chapters are free. Once you reach chapter two, Today’s song lets you play one song from the full game free each day, until midnight. A single Full Game purchase lets you progress through all eight chapters and immediately opens every song’s practice room. Songs added later are included. No ads. No subscription. Just you and the music.
