About this app
Prologue is an audiobook player for people who host their own collections on a Plex or Audiobookshelf server. It does not sell books; it brings the titles from your servers into one library you can browse by author, collection or series, with a reading list, downloads for offline listening, bookmarks with notes, and a history of your listening with stats and streaks. Playback options include per-book speed settings, a sleep timer that can stop at the end of a chapter, automatic rewind on resume, Voice Boost and an equalizer. A reader view lets you follow along with an EPUB or PDF, or with a transcript generated on the device, with the current text highlighted as the book plays; once a book has been transcribed, skips can land at the start of a sentence. Prologue also runs on iPad and Apple Watch, where books can be downloaded for listening without the phone, and supports CarPlay, Siri, Shortcuts and widgets. It is free to download, with extra features in a one-time Premium unlock and a separate unlock for offline Apple Watch listening. Version 2026.5, released in October 2026, added support for iPhone Duo.
