About this app
lire is an RSS reader by Kunal Sood built around one idea: many feeds only publish a summary of each post, and lire fetches and caches the full text so you can read whole articles inside the app instead of clicking through to a website. Once articles are cached they can be read without a connection. It works as a standalone reader with iCloud sync, or with a long list of feed services including Feedly, Feedbin, Inoreader, NewsBlur, The Old Reader, BazQux Reader, FreshRSS, Miniflux, Nextcloud News and Tiny Tiny RSS. Version 7.0 brought updates for iOS 27, article summaries with Apple Intelligence, on-device translation of articles using Apple's translation models, the option to log in to paywalled sites to retrieve full text, a reworked text-extraction engine and a new list layout style. Version 7.1.0, released on October 12, 2026, added support for iPhone Duo along with extra-large home screen widgets on iOS 27 and resizing when used through iPhone Mirroring on a Mac. lire is a paid download, with additional in-app purchases listed on the App Store. It suits readers who follow sites with truncated feeds and want a reading experience that does not depend on a browser.
App Store descriptionWritten by the developer.
Love RSS feeds? So do we!! RSS feeds are a great way to follow updates on your favorite website. However, some sites set up their feeds to only show a portion of each entry, you know, to get you to click through to their actual website. We find that really annoying, and we're sure you do too. Which is why, unlike other RSS feed readers, that either push you into a browser (in-app or otherwise), or depend on third party text parsing services and require you to be online to fetch the full text of one article at a time (which makes it no different from having to click/tap through to a website), in lire, you get your favorite RSS feeds as they should've been. You don't need to click through to any website (though, you do still have the option to, if you really wanted). It takes your favorite partial feeds, does its magic, and converts them in to full feeds, so you don't have to click/tap on those annoying 'Read more' or 'Continue reading' links. Once they're cached, you don't even need to be connected to read your full-text feeds. Use as a standalone feed reader, sync with iCloud, or, sync with any of the several services: Feedly, Feedbin, FeedHQ, The Old Reader, Inoreader, BazQux Reader, Newsblur, Feed Wrangler, FreshRSS, Miniflux, Nextcloud News, Tiny Tiny RSS.
Highlights
- Converts partial feeds into full-text articles
- Offline reading of cached articles
- iCloud sync or a dozen feed services
- Article summaries with Apple Intelligence
- On-device article translation
- Extra-large widgets on iOS 27
